Toxic Glossary
Reading product labels can be tough.
We’re making it easier.

Below, we’ve compiled some of the most common (and most dangerous) chemicals found in beauty and skin care products today. And we’ve also included name-brand products that contain these ingredients, helping you to identify causes for concern in your own makeup bag or bathroom cabinet.
You’ll find that we’ve kept terminology and content simple — a chemistry degree is not required to understand what’s included here. Remember, we’re not doctors, so this information is not intended to be the end-all, be-all of toxic ingredient knowledge. But we’ve done our best to pull together real information from trusted sources, including previously published magazines, studies, journals, material data safety sheets and cosmetic ingredient databases.
We encourage you to also do your own research….because we all deserve to know the truth about products we use every single day.
